The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) comprises of two papers. The Paper1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B. Tech) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments, as well as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Candidates of UPSEE will take JEE (Main). The Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the Country. From this year, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow will also use the score sheet of JEE (Main) for admission to the B.Tech / M.Tech (Integrated)/B.Arch. Courses in its affiliated colleges across the State.
The JEE (Main) will be conducted in multiple sessions for admissions in the next academic session. The candidates will thus benefit in the following ways:

You can appear for JEE Main in online mode . The Computer Based Exam (online exam) is conducted using Local Area Network (LAN), candidates will be given an unlimited amount of rough sheets for calculations and other rough work
Age Criteria : Appearing in the JEE (Main) examination there is no age limit for the candidates.
Qualifying Marks : Candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12thclass examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Main).
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years irrespective of whether or not he/she passed the Qualifying Examination.

The JEE Main cut-off indicates the closing ranks or minimum scores that the applicants need to score to qualify for JEE Advanced. Candidates who don't meet the cut-off will be considered ineligible. However, they can still participate in the JEE Main counseling, conducted by JoSAA.
In the case of Institutes run by the Central Government, the reservation would be applicable as mentioned below:

Each category will have 5% reservations for the candidates with 40% or more disability as defined in Section 2 (r) and (zc) of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016.
In the case of the Institutes run/aided/recognized by State Governments, the reservation policy of the respective State Governments shall be applicable.

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is an All-India Common Entrance Examination for admission to the top engineering colleges across India. It is conducted in two phases – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Students are eligible to take JEE Advanced only if they clear the cut-off for JEE Main. The IITs and ISM then grant admission to these candidates on the basis of the JEE Advanced results.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR INDIAN NATIONALS FOR APPEARING FOR JEE (ADVANCED) All the candidates must simultaneously fulfil each and every one of the following five criteria to appear for JEE (Advanced) . Criterion 1 – Performance in JEE (Main) : Candidates should be among the top 2,50,000* successful candidates (including all categories) in B.E./B.Tech. Paper of JEE (Main). The percentages of various categories of to be shortlisted are: 10% for GEN-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining 40.5% is OPEN for all. Within each of these five categories, 5% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates.
* The total number of candidates may be slightly greater than 2,50,000 in the presence of “tied” ranks / scores in any category.
Candidates can check previous years' papers for salient features of the JEE Advanced exam pattern, along with details of 'previous years question papers in order to get a fair idea about the actual exam. This is to be done as the paper pattern is different every year with a different marking scheme, and hence students should read the instructions carefully.
The question papers will consist of objective type (multiple choice) and numerical answer type questions designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.
Incorrect answers to some of the questions will result in a deduction of marks.
The question paper will be in either English or Hindi. Candidates must exercise their choice of question paper language while registering for JEE Advanced. Change of question paper language will not be entertained after registration.
Focus : Focus more on understanding topics rather than just formulae. This way, you can ensure that you imbibe the method used to arrive at the formulae. Doing so will also ensure that those formulae are always at your fingertips.
Organise your time: Watch the time taken to solve questions. Subject-wise allocation of time will help you attempt the JEE Advanced paper within the given time constraint. This will also help in examsimulation. While in the exam, you should be able to filter out the easy questions from the difficult ones, so you know the amount of time you need to allot to them.
Keep taking breaks: Burnout should be avoided at all costs. Keep taking periodic breaks to refresh yourself. Talk to friends once in a while, and don't bury your social life entirely.
Practice solving sample papers: Once you are through with a concept or chapter, solve previous years' papers (for the last 6-8 years at least). This will guide you through the transitions in question patterns and will prepare you to anticipate them. Sample papers from other sources, such as All India Test Series, will also help you in formulating strategies and eliminating weaknesses.
Subject-wise planning: Based on your preference, select subject-wise topics and cover them each day. Remember, your weakness may be someone else's strength so never ignore a less favorite topic. Refer the latest JEE Advanced syllabus for your study plan.
Clarity in concepts: Develop a clear thinking process so that the moment you see a question, you know the correct theory or formula to be used.
From basics to classics: Always start from the fundamentals and then gradually move up further. In this way, you can tackle even a difficult problem as you are well-versed with the concept. Jumping straightaway to an advanced problem is not a good idea.
Numericals are crucial: Solving enough numerical is crucial to crack JEE Advanced. Practice at least 40-50 numerical for each day of your JEE Advanced preparations.
